Knaresborough Castle and Courthouse Museum

The 'Life in a Medieval Castle' gallery is designed to be of special interest to KS1 and KS2 pupils.
The gallery contains replica medieval costumes, examples of Knaresborough Castlechain mail armour and information about everyday life at the time, for both rich and poor people.
 
Pupils can also try brass rubbings and medieval games.
 
A newly designed comprehensive trail is available and, by arrangement, schools can take part in a guided tour of the castle site including the secret underground tunnel!

There is a box full of items that might have belonged to a rich boy such as meat, toys, pewter tankards and items for schools.
 
Compare this to a bag belonging to poor Kathryn which contains food, a leather tankard, no toys or school items! 
 
Teacher's notes are sent in advance.
 
£10 deposit payable on the visit and returned the same day.

Please note the maximum group size is 35 pupils.
 
If a charging event, all bookings will receive an invoice shortly afterwards. A deposit of 40% will be retained if the booking is cancelled less than three weeks before the session date.
 
This is charged in order to cover our costs when cancelling the session leader at short notice.
