Financial Support For Start Up Customers With Disabilities
From 1st September the Business Link Yorkshire Start Up
service will be offering financial assistance to help individuals
overcome barriers to starting their own business that are caused by
a disability.
The assistance is between £150 and £1000 per
customer and can be used to meet costs such as:
* Reimbursement of local transport costs in order to attend
business start-up training, which can be from any supplier
including Business Link Yorkshire.
* Equipment, purchase and modifications. For example,
specialist PC equipment Monitors, Keyboards, Screens/Screen
enhancers etc.
* Pre-start training, not already specified within the
start-up service offer. For example Specialist advice for, Disabled
people starting a business, barrier removal workshops or training
on new equipment etc.
* 1:2:1 advice sessions to potential entrepreneurs, where
benefit issues are a barrier to trading. An external adviser and
expert on the benefits systems will be brokered to work with the
client to ensure they fully understand the tax and benefits
allowances of someone moving into self employment. The advisor,
through familiarity with HMRC, JCP and other agencies, will work
with the client to enable them to access all appropriate funding
and resources in their transition to starting a business and
trading.
Interested parties should contact our Contact Centre on 08456
048 048 and ask to discuss the Start Up Disability grant in more
detail, and they will be put in touch with an appropriate
person.
