Strategic Housing Land Assessment

Strategic Housing Land Assessment (SHLAA)

The main role of the SHLAA is to identify sites with potential for housing development, to assess that potential and to consider their likelihood of being developed within a certain time period.

The following documents have been published to assist members of the SHLAA Working Group in preparing a SHLAA for Harrogate District.

Members of SHLAA Working Group and Notes of first meeting (42kb): Notes of the first meeting held on 22 October 2008, and including details of the Working Group's membership.
Terms of Reference and Working Arrangements (11kb): Relevant details to oversee preparation of a SHLAA for Harrogate District.
Discussion Paper on SHLAA methodology (26kb): Sets out matters under consideration by the Working Group.

Stategic Housing Land Availability and Development Plan Document (DPD) preparation (page link): Guidance published in January 2008 by The Planning Advisory Service addressing how SHLAA preparation can be best fitted into the process of DPD preparation.
