DATE PRESS RELEASE ISSUED 28 November 2008
STARBECK IN BLOOM CELEBRATES NATIONAL TREE
WEEK
Members of Starbeck in Bloom are turning their attention to
all things arboricultural as they celebrate National Tree Week on
Wednesday,
3 December 2008.
Members of the In Bloom Group, working with Harrogate Borough
Council's Arboricultural Team and helpers from Vocational Skills
and Education to Employment, will plant 36 native trees around the
periphery of Belmont Field, Starbeck.
Funding for the trees has come via grant from the Tree
Council with contributions from Starbeck in Bloom and Harrogate
Borough Council
The Group has also received a number of donated tree whips
which they will be planting out around Starbeck on Saturday, 6
December 2008 with support from local scouts.
Christine Stewart, on behalf of Starbeck in Bloom, says
she hopes generations to come will get pleasure from these
trees. She said: "National Tree Week was
launched 1975 and is the UK's largest annual tree
celebration launching the start of the winter tree planting
season. This is another great chance for local
communities to do something for their area. We
are pleased that together we are making this positive contribution
to Starbeck's treescape. I would like to thank
everyone who has contributed, either cash, trees or voluntary
support with the planting."
