"Public Access" for planning is an online service that allows you to view details of planning applications being considered by the Council and determined applications which have been submitted since 1974. You can monitor the progress of an application, submit comments on a current application, search a constantly updated list of applications received and decided each week, view details of many historic applications and view property details by reference to a map.
Copyright Warning: The documents available here have been submitted to the Council in order to apply for planning permission.  They are protected by Section 47 of the Copyright Designs and Patents Act 1988.  They are being made available to be viewed for consultation purposes only - copies must not be made without the prior permission of the copyright owner (ie the applicant or their agent).

Paper copies of the plans can be viewed at:

Limitations

Public Access is best viewed using Internet Explorer version 5.5 or above.  The reason for this is that Public Access needs to be run in a web browser that supports specific JavaScript functionality.  We would recommend a screen resolution of 1024 x 768 (with a minimum resolution of 800 by 600) and at least 256 colours.  Different settings may restrict your viewing of Public Access.

The service continues to be developed and at the present time no constraint, for example, Listed Building or Tree Preservation Order, information is available online.

Associated documents are available for applications received from August 2005 onwards. You can view all current applications, though it may take up to 5 working days for the documents to become available following registration.

You can also view Decision Notices from the Associated Documents tab for each application determined from October 2005 onwards.

The information contained within Public Access, is 'as live' with our back office system, and therefore the information contained within is continuously updated throughout every working day.

The online planning history contained within the site is at present incomplete and must not be used as a substitute for carrying out a formal 'Land Charge Search'. Planning application boundaries are only available for applications received from November 2004 onwards.  No responsibility will be taken for any errors or omissions in the planning history information obtained from 'Public Access'. Similarly the information contained within Public Access does not constitute in any way a formal notification of a planning decision, and as such any actions taken as a result of information displayed on the site are undertaken entirely at the viewer's own risk.  Also Ward and Councillor information may not be correct unless accessed from applications validated since May 2002.

The view map feature from the menu bar will not show the map of a specific property, but is an overview map from where users can navigate around the district, zooming in and out as required.

Note for Windows XP users.

Windows XP Service Pack 2 has increased security, by stopping pop-up windows. Public Access relies on these to provide you with results and Help. It is recommended that you add the Public Access web page address to the "Allowed Sites" list in the "Exception" settings for the pop-up blocker.
