Legal Services
If you want advice on issues such as debt problems,
welfare benefits, housing and immigration, the Community Legal
Service can help.
The Community Legal Service is improving public access to
good-quality legal and advice services. At the heart of the
Community Legal Service are local networks of service providers.
These include advice bureaus, law centres, independent advice
centres and local authority services.
People involved in the Community Legal Service actively aim to
put you in touch with the right person quickly so that you get the
right type of advice and information.
Finding your Community Legal Service
If you want to find your nearest Community
Legal Service provider, you can phone the Community Legal Service
directory line on 0845 608 1122.
The line is open seven days a week from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm. (A
textphone service is also available for people who have
difficulties with their hearing or speech on 0845 609 6677.)
Community Legal Information Points
There are also a number of Community Legal Information Points
that have been set up in local libraries, county courts and also
from an increasing number of other sites.
Each Community Legal Service Information Point holds a copy of
the relevant regional directory of legal services as well as a
range of leaflets giving basic information about common legal
issues, such as debt, housing, consumer advice and employment. You
can find more information about legal services on the
Community Legal
Service website.
