What is Discounted Home Ownership and how does it work?

You can buy 100% of a newly built or converted property at a substantial discount on the market value.

The discount can be up to 65% of the market value.

The property is bought on a leasehold basis with the freehold being retained by a housing association. On re-sale the property is sold at the same discount on market value.

Who is eligible?

Existing social housing tenants or those on Harrogate Borough Council's housing register and in housing need. Priority is normally given to people with a local connection to the sub area in which the home is situated. Please see details of individual developments for specific selection criteria.

How can I apply?

If you are not on Harrogate Borough Council's housing register, you will need to complete a housing application form. You will also need to apply to the housing association administering the particular development. Please see details of individual developments for contact details on the particular housing association running the scheme.
