From the 1st of April 2010 North Yorkshire County Council will become directly responsible for duties and powers relating to its role as Highway Authority within the urban areas of  Harrogate and Knaresborough.  The effect of these changes will be to ensure that all communities in the Harrogate Borough will receive highway and transportation services in the same way from the 1st April.  Staff from both authorities have worked closely together to endeavour to make the transfer of service seamless and with minimal impact upon service delivery to residents and highways users in the urban areas of Harrogate and Knaresborough.
