There are numerous benefits from having an
allotment such as:
Within Harrogate, the Council have 10 allotment sites. Seven of these sites are run under the Self Administration Scheme.
Choose a site then contact either the appropriate site secretary, or the Customer Services Unit on 0845 300 6091. Once you have found a site and plot, you will need to read and sign a Tenancy Agreement, then you can start digging ... it's as simple as that!
Please be aware that allotments are very popular and at present there are long waiting lists on each site. Plots may not become available for up to two years.
Costs vary on each site, however, the self-administered sites usually have cheaper rents.

Your responsibilities once you have an allotment are:
We
make a single charge per year which covers rent and water supply
(if applicable). The cost depends on the size of the plot, price

If you are receiving income support/family credit/unemployed benefit or are registered disabled or a senior citizen, you are entitled to a 50 per cent reduction on all Council-run sites.
You will be required to complete a pro-forma on application. Some self-administered sites also offer a concessionary rate.
