Mission Statement and Objectives
To lead the development and implementation of corporate
management and major change initiatives to ensure that the Council
operates effectively and efficiently and improves as an
organisation.
- Contribute to the strategic direction of the Council by
ensuring the corporate and democratic systems are efficient and
effective.
- Lead the design and implementation of the Council's
corporate planning and management systems.
- Ensure the Council's corporate priorities are
delivered.
- Lead the Council's change agenda by developing and
implementing organisational development initiatives to meet
corporate, directorate and service priorities.
- Champion a customer focus, including the use of
technology to provide more efficient and joined-up
services.
- Develop the Council's relationships with external
partners to ensure joint plans and initiatives are
delivered.
- Develop good internal and external communications to ensure
the Council runs smoothly.
- Contribute to a strong, co-ordinated, wider management
culture to help deliver corporate performance and improved
working together.
- Lead the development of Corporate projects to ensure
initiatives of significant corporate impact are implemented
successfully.
- Encourage openness and accountability in Council decision
making and policy development to enhance community leadership and
good governance.
In order for the Council to achieve significant improvement,
it has established the Corporate Policy & Improvement
Department to develop and assist in delivering the agreed Strategic
Plan and Corporate Improvement Plan.
The Executive Director is part of the Council's Corporate
Management Team. The officers in the Department
will work to deliver the following departmental aims:-
- To administer and co-ordinate the Council's Corporate
Planning process.
- To administer and co-ordinate the Council's Best Value
agenda.
- To monitor Council performance both internally and
externally.
- To administer and co-ordinate the Overview and Scrutiny
function of the Council.
- To develop key Corporate policy areas (eg, governance;
procurement; civil protection; customer care).
- To act as a catalyst for cultural change
- To contribute to the Organisational and Leadership Development
Programme for the Council.
- To develop the Council's internal and external
communications.
- To develop an improved customer focus within the Council.
- To lead and deliver corporate projects that are key to
the Council's change process.
