Road Marking & Signing - Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders

Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders (TTRO's) are made using powers and under the procedures laid out in the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. Temporary Traffic Regulation Orders may last for only one day, or upto 18 months in the case of major road works, dependent upon the reason for their introduction. The majority of TTRO's are introduced to close a road to traffic during highway works, emergency closures after major incidents or to restrict parking.

An application for a TTRO should be made using the form below giving full details of the works and how they will impact on traffic. Details of traffic management procedures (in accordance with statutory legislation) put into place for the duration of the closure should be included with  your request. The application should be made at least 3 months prior to the proposed closure in order for the public notices and issued prior to the commencement of the closure.
