Parking and Garages
The Council provides the following facilities for its tenants to ensure safe and convenient parking:
In-curtilage
The council provides financial assistance in the form of a grant to help tenants provide in-curtilage car parking. This is off-road parking within the boundaries of a tenant's property and is designed to improve access, visual amenity and security throughout the roads and estates. The Council will pay a grant of up to 50% of the cost of the work to a maximum of £300 upon completion and following a satisfactory inspection. You need to contact your local housing office before any works start.
Parking Areas
On certain estates areas have been laid out for resident car parking.
Garages
The Council provides a number of garage blocks across the district.
The cost of renting a garage will depend on which Band the garage is in. Garages are banded as either being:
- Band A rent £9.20 per week
- Band B rent £8.30 per week
Non-Council tenants who rent a garage from us will be subject to paying VAT.
- Apply for a garage in the Bilton and Jennyfields area (23K, Word)
- Apply for a garage in the Knaresborough and Kennion area (30K, Word)
- Apply for a garage in the Ripon area (26K, Word)
Town Centre Parking
In certain town centre locations a resident parking permit system applies.
