How We Procure This Work
Construction Services
General Building and Alteration Works with an estimated value
not exceeding £10,000 are undertaken via a Measured
Term Maintenance Contract, currently operating from 2004 to
2008, with an option to extend to 2010. Works of
a specialist nature are procured on a one-off basis using the
Council's quotation procedures.
Works with an estimated value exceeding £10,000
are procured using the Council's quotation or tendering procedures
(as appropriate), with contractors selected on a rotational basis
from Standing Lists held by the division.
The division maintains lists for the most frequently used
services, namely:-
- General Building and Alteration not exceeding £50,000 in value
- General Building and Alteration ranging from £50,000 to £500,000
- Demolition and Dismantling
- Pitched Roofing
- Painting and Decorating
- Mechanical and Electrical not exceeding £50,000
Lists are not maintained for other specialist services, tender
lists being drawn-up on a one-off basis as required.
Professional Services with an estimated value not exceeding
£10,000 are procured on a Framework Agreement
using pre-tendered hourly rates. Consultants are
selected on a rotational basis from Standing Lists.
The division maintains lists for the most frequently used
services, namely:
- Structural Engineers (single appointment)
- Architectural Designers
- Quantity Surveyors
- Party Wall Surveyors
- Planning Supervisors
- Mechanical and Electrical Engineers
Lists are not maintained for other specialist services, tender
lists being drawn-up on a one-off basis as required.
Professional Services with an estimated value exceeding
£10,000 are procured using the Council's quotation or
tendering procedures (as appropriate), inviting tenders from those
on the Select List for the relevant discipline.
Professional Services with an estimated value exceeding
£50,000 are procured using the Council's Open Tendering
procedure.
Authorisation is sought for Single Tendering where special
expertise or previous knowledge of a particular building is
required.
