The streets and pavements of Harrogate district are cleaned to a regular schedule of work. This is adjusted in the autumn to account for leaf falls, and supplemented in the spring by help given to community spring cleans. In addition the team will clear up after any special open air public events.
The streets and pavements are usually manually litter picked by regular patrols (though we have one mechanical sweeper as well - see street cleaning team for more details).

Mobile patrols litter pick and empty litter bins in suburban shopping areas of Harrogate and Knaresborough on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The 22 street cleaning staff are the primary means of removing litter and detritus from the 3,000 kilometres of highway and pathway within the District. The normal hours of service are from 6am to 2pm Monday to Friday, during which time these staff patrol predetermined routes.
At weekends, we operate a reduced service with attention only to the centre areas and tourist areas during summer.
