In the Main Gallery in 2009:

Anne Desmet: Urban Evolution
31 January to 29 March
 
Anne Desmet is one of the most original talents in contemporary artist-printmaking.
 
She explores human aspiration through city-building and architecture.
 
Urban Evolution features work made by Anne Desmet in the last ten years, including a new series of twenty-nine images based on the decline and regeneration of Manchester's Victoria Baths, the first winner of the BBC's Restoration series in 2003.

Now Showing: New Film and Video from the Arts Council Collection
10 January to 22 February
Film and video have emerged as increasingly important media for artists in the past decade.
 
Now Showing will feature one projection a week for six weeks.
 
The six works which make up Now Showing draw on a wide range of influences: home movies, news media, grainy black and white archive footage, TV documentary and mainstream cinema.
 
The exhibition will be accompanied by a small publication with texts on the featured artists.
