Landlords' Forum

Introduction

1998 saw the launch of Harrogate Borough Councils' Landlords' Forum; the purpose of the forum was to:

Develop good working partnerships between Local Authority and Private Sector Landlords, Managing Agents, Tenants and Tenant Representative Groups.
Share experience of legislation relating to the property condition and safety standards required for rented accommodation and Landlord and Tenant Law.
Consider proposed changes to legislation/consultation documents and provide feedback, as a group, to appropriate organisations.

The forums are held twice yearly, usually in April/October. There is also a newsletter, which goes out in Winter/Summer.

Safety Alert HSE

HSE Gas Safety Alert - 20/10/08

The Health and Safety Executive has issued a gas safety alert to raise awareness of the potential danger of some flues located on internal walls connected to gas boilers. The risk comes from a particular kind of flue system for gas boilers, which have been most commonly installed in multi-storey apartment blocks, built since 2000. Older properties that have recently been renovated or modernised may also have gas boilers located away from an external wall with the flue running through the ceiling void or other enclosure.
