Knaresborough TIC has been announced as a finalist in this
year's White Rose Awards for Tourism after achieving an outstanding
99.5% in this year's Yorkshire wide Mystery Shopper exercise.
Organised by Yorkshire Tourist Board, every Tourist
Information Centre in Yorkshire receives a personal visit, an email
enquiry and up to two telephone calls to assess the quality of
customer service visitors to the region can expect.
The Visitor Service Officer team at Knaresborough was praised
by the assessor for its "exemplary service" and ability to "tell me
about things to do in the local area and all the time explain why
they would be appropriate for my situation."
The judges will now review the short listed entries and the
winners will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony to be
held at Bridlington Spa on 25 September.
In 2007 Knaresborough TIC handled over 20,000 enquiries, and
makes an average of 150 bed bookings per year. With a staff team of
3 the TIC deals with enquiries from across the country from people
intending to visit the area. From the local perspective, the most
popular destination enquiries are for the Lake District, Scotland
and Northumberland.
The Tourist information Centre in Castle Courtyard, is open
Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 10am to1pm, when a member
of the team is always on hand to give information and advice to
visitors and local residents.
