Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) 2007-2013
The programme was approved by the Commission
in December. It is also managed by Yorkshire
Forward and proposals include the establishment of a Rural
Enterprise Investment Programme providing support for businesses, a
Rural Business Start-up Programme which will be delivered as part
of the Business Link service for rural businesses and a Land Based
Skills and Knowledge Transfer Programme. All
will be delivered from April 2008.
Rural Enterprise Investment
Programme
The RDPE grants (>£25,000) to grow existing
businesses have been christened the Rural Enterprise Investment
Programme, or REIP. Yorkshire Forward Facilitators have been
working with businesses who have submitted Expressions of Interest
to develop these up into full applications.
Businesses interested in making an application should speak to
the appropriate facilitator (see below) and submit an Expression of
Interest. Full guidance on how to apply for REIP along with
Expression of Interest forms can be downloaded from Yorkshire
Forward's website and provide information on the eligibility of
proposed activity and our priorities for
investment.
Business Start Up
Programme
The RDPE Business Start Up grants (<£10,000) to
assist new businesses to start up. If you wish
to register interest in receiving a Start Up grant, there is an
Expression of Interest form on Yorkshire Forward's website.
LEADER
The RDPE also includes the LEADER programme.
Funds spent through the LEADER approach will have a stronger
social element addressing the provision of services within rural
communities and the development of cultural and heritage based
community activity. LEADER will also be able to
facilitate applications for Business Start Up/Improvement if they
are within the designated geographic area, but will not duplicate
support by setting up their own business support funding
schemes.
Yorkshire Forward has agreed that programmes for the Moors and
Coast, the Yorkshire Dales area and the Ryedale Wolds and Filey
should go ahead for further development.
Harrogate District's areas are within the Yorkshire Dales Area,
which covers Nidderdale AONB area plus Masham and its
surrounds.
