Ure Walks Through Time - Signage and Interpretation
Yore Vision and its members are delivering
a fascinating series of interpretive waymarked trails along the
River Ure. Each starts with a high profile panel in Boroughbridge
and surrounding key Parishes and is accompanied by a glossy
leaflet, which unlocks the fascinating hidden history and landscape
along the river for locals and visitors with the aim to encourage
exercise and economic regeneration.
This has been an amazing collaborative effort by volunteers of
Boroughbridge Town Council, Parish Councils, Yore Vision along with
support from Harrogate Borough Council and North Yorkshire County
Council.
The Project Group was successful in securing nearly 50%
of the funding from Yorkshire Forward as part of their Renaissance
Market Town Programme. The remaining funding has
come from a variety of sources including the Town and Parish
Councils, local businesses, North Yorkshire County Council and
Harrogate Borough Council. With this current the
Project Group have developed the interpretive
waymarked trails at: Gt Ouseburn, Lower Dunsforth, Langthorpe,
Aldborough, Devils Arrows and Roecliffe. The Project Group are
continuing to seek further funding to develop trails at Aldwark,
Myton and Staveley.
The Project Group, to celebrate what has been achieved so far,
are having a launch on 12th May, 6.30pm at one of the
Interpretation board's locations, Boroughbridge Library at St James
Square. Those attending will be able to view all the panels and
leaflets, which will be displayed inside the library.
