Egyptology for schools
We have a new permanent display area for our wonderful
Egyptology collection.
There are displays on the themes of:
- Daily Life
- Death and Burial
- Royalty
There is a trail to guide pupils around the
exhibition.
Workshop information is below. The workshops are
available either alone or as part of a day visit. Below is an
example lesson plan for a day visit:
10:00 Arrive, settle, introduce day
10:15 Half class visit exhibiiton, half attend
object handling session
11:15 Swap over
12:15 Lunch
13:00 Mummifcation session
14:00 End of
visit
Full day session charged at £80 per class.

Ancient Egyptian
workshops
Egyptian Object Handling
Come along to discover Ancient Egyptian objects for
yourself.
This session features canopic jars, shabti figures, scarab
beetles and more! Pupils can handle the objects whilst discovering
what they were used for all those thousands of years ago. It
is designed to complement our
Egyptology display area featuring some of
our wonderful objects such as this mummy mask!
These sessions last approximately one hour, with half the
class visiting the Egyptology display, then swapping over.
Sessions are charged at £45 and are available on
request. Please contact us to arrange.
Mummification
We have a brand new resource - a mummy
doll!
Pupils can come and take out the organs, including the brain
through the nose, to discover how mummification took place.
Then they can try wrapping the mummy in muslin!
These sessions last approximately 90 minutes, with half the
class visiting the Egyptology display area, then swapping
over.
Sessions are charged at £45 and are available on

Egyptian arts and crafts
To accompany any of these sessions, or just a visit to the
Egyptology
display, we have a number of arts and craft options:
- Mummy masks
- Egyptian jewellery making
- Make your own mini-mummy
- Clay amulets and scarab beetles

Please note the maximum group size is 35 pupils.
If a charging event, all bookings will receive an invoice
shortly afterwards. A deposit of 40% will be
retained if the booking is cancelled less than three weeks before
the session date.
This is charged in order to cover our costs when cancelling
the session leader at short notice.
