22 July 2008: HARROGATE
District Swimming Club will this year send a team of 12
swimmers to the National Championships. This is
the largest group of swimmers the Club has ever sent to this level
of competition.
The Championships will be held in Sheffield between 24 July
and 2 August.
Harrogate Borough Council's Head Swimming Coach, Bill Evans
says these young people have already shown their worth by beating
off hundreds of other hopefuls to qualify for the
Championships. "Although they are obviously the
cream of our crop, over 60 per cent of our top training squad will
this year be swimming at national level.
"We also have three relay teams that have qualified to swim at
national level. This is the first time we have
had a boys' team at this standard and to get three there in one
season just goes to show the level of talented swimmers we have
coming through our swimming development scheme.
They are a joy to take on this sort of trip and everyone back at
the Harrogate Hydro will be rooting for them all."
The finalists are:
Age Nationals:
Jordan Emsley, Kent Sampson, Jack Mc Bride, Charlie
Lonsbrough, Leonie Chan, Ellen White, Matthew Rider and Jordan
Foster.
Youth Nationals:
Lucy Budimir, Joe French, Alasdair Holden and Dmitry
Kadochnikov. ENDS
