Scheduled Ancient Monuments
These features range from the magnificent ruins of the
Cistercian Fountains Abbey to simple cup and ring marked rocks on
the Nidderdale moors. There are over 150 Scheduled
Monuments in Harrogate District with more being added continuously
as a consequence of English Heritage's 'Mounuments Protection
Programme'.

them, how they are protected and what grant assistance may be
available to help ensure their preservation. This publication
also contains a list of the Ancient Monuments in Harrogate District
up to the year 2002.
