Licensing Act 2003
The Licensing Act 2003 governs the sale of alcohol, regulated
entertainment and late night refreshments (sale of hot food and
drink from 23:00 - 05:00).
The
Licensing Act 2003 (opens in a new window) can
be found on the Office of Public Sector Information website.
The four licensing objectives are:
- prevention of crime and disorder
- prevention of public nuisance
- public safety
- prevention of harm to children

Licensing Act 2003 in relation to the Harrogate District:
Licensing Policy Review 2010/2011 - Public
Consultation
The Licensing Act 2003 requires that we review our Statement of
Licensing Policy every three years. We are currently carrying out a
public consultation on the review and revision of the Licensing
Policy.
Revisions have been clearly marked as red within the document.
We must receive all comments on the draft Licensing Policy by 30th
September 2010.
Licensing of Sexual Entertainment Venues - Public
Consultation
Due to the introduction of new legislation, we have been given
the choice of implementing a new governing power over Sex
Entertainment Venues, which would also allow us to recognise the
opinions and objections of local residents about where such
premises are located.
We would like your views on the implementation of new controls
to govern sexual entertainments in the district. If we decide not
to adopt the new powers, then Sex Entertainment Venues will be
licensed as they are now.
We would like your views on:
- Whether we should adopt the new controls introduced
- The proposed draft policy on Licensing of Sexual Entertainment
Venues, if we choose to adopt the new powers (NB there is no
presumption at this stage that we will adopt).
