Treasures of the Mercer Unveiled
Gallery talk to accompany the Prints and Drawings exhibition. Exhibition curator, Alex Kidson talks about the discoveries he made while researching the prints, drawings and watercolours in Harrogate’s fine art collection. It will also include works not on display.

Writing About Art: Readers’ Day
The Writing About Art: Readers’ Day is an opportunity to meet your favourite authors and like-minded readers. Hear about their most recent novels and to share your response to their work.

Visit to National Education Archive at Yorkshire Sculpture Park
NAEA was established in 1985 to provide a documentary trace of the development of arts education in the UK and worldwide, by collecting children’s and students' work. An exciting opportunity for a guided tour of this unique archive and the YSP. You might even find your art from your school days!

Harrogate Open: Artist’s Talk
Aseries of Gallery talks for the Harrogate Open. Each talk will feature a different Harrogate Open artist who will talk about their artwork and inspiration.

This is my Town: Joseph Baker Fountain’s Knaresborough
Joseph Baker Fountain (1907-1992) was an artist with no professional training and huge confidence in his own ability. Fountain’s laboriously painted views of Knaresborough, with its old red brick houses clambering up the hill to the ancient ruined Castle, attracted many admirers. Jane Sellars, author of a new book on J B Fountain examines the strength of his appeal.

Wednesday 16th September, 12.30pm to 3.15pm
Visit to Farnley Hall
Guidede tour: Farnley Hall, on the outskirts of Otley, is perhaps best known for its connection with the painter, Joseph Mallord William Turner, who visited the Hall for the best part of 25 years, and whose paintings were inspired by the scenes he enjoyed of the Wharfedale. 
Cost: £18 including refreshments in the Hall kitchen

Our events are either free or very reasonably priced. Payment is requested in advance. Refunds by arrangement with more than 14 days' written notice.
For family events, children under 8 must be accompanied at all times and all children must be accompanied at drop-in events.
