An Introduction to Print Making with Hester Cox
A day spent looking at the varying methods of creating an original print. Participants will learn two different ways of creating monoprints in the morning and spend the afternoon learning to make a small linocut.

Specifically for people who have always wanted to try! Through a variety of exercises the participants will learn watercolour techniques to complete a landscape and a seascape.

You Should've Seen Us - A Journey through North Yorkshire in Film and Poems
Film show, written by Paul Mills in colaboration with Yorkshire Film Archive. The show features scenes including Ripon racecourse in 1916, Harrogate in 1937 and Scarborough in 1958 with poems of commentaries and imagined voices of people in North Yorkshire from before, during and after the Second World War. "In these poems Paul Mills has taken archive film as his inspiration and has produced a wonderfully stirring, thoughtful and ultimately celebratory body of work that spins out from specific histories into all our families, all our lives." - Ian McMillan

Make your own Visitorian! - A photo montage workshop
Join our drop-in event to create collages and a different family portrait inspired by Charlotte Cory’s ‘Visitoriana’ exhibition. You can bring along a photograph of your pet or other animal or we can provide the material for you.

An Introduction to Drawing with Emerson Mayes - day workshop
Specifically for people who have always wanted to try. Award-winning artist Emerson Mayes will guide you through a series of drawing exercises that will give you confidence to tackle the creation of a finished drawing. The workshop will be structured so that it will be suitable to those who have never picked up a pencil before, through to more experienced artists. The day will have a relaxed atmosphere and most importantly will be fun...no matter what the drawings look like!

Charlotte Cory, surrealist photographer, talks to Jane Sellars about bringing the Brontes to Harrogate and tempering with one of W. P. Frith's most famous paintings.

Dating and Interpreting Victorian Portrait Photographs - An Access All Areas Event
Learn the basic chronology of photography and how to date Victorian photographs from background, pose and dress with Anthea Jarvis, formerly principle curator at the Gallery of Costume in Manchester. Perfectly timed to coincide with Charlotte Cory's Visitoriana exhibition, in which Victorian photographs are given a surrealistic twist, this workshop is also an opportunity to view some examples from Harrogate Museum's collection of cartes-de-visite.

Wartime and Hemlines - An Access All Areas Event
A handling session looking at how fashions changed dramatically from 1910-1929. Laura Gray, Harrogate's curatorial researcher on the Access All Areas: Costume project, will be selecting exquisite dresses that demonstrate how huge social change was reflected in fashion and how the luxurious but formal decorative elements of pre-war fashions found found new and energetic expression in the fashions of the jazz age.
