This is my Town: Joseph Baker Fountain’s Knaresborough
Joseph Baker Fountain (1907-1992) was an artist with no professional training and huge confidence in his own ability. Fountain’s laboriously painted views of Knaresborough, with its old red brick houses clambering up the hill to the ancient ruined Castle, attracted many admirers. Jane Sellars, author of a new book on J B Fountain examines the strength of his appeal.
