Direct Debit mandate (PDF format, link opens in new window). The completed form should be sent to us, not your bank, and it is important you write your Council Tax account number in the reference number box. Currently it's not possible to set up a direct debit online.

My account is in credit, what happens next?
When your account is in credit, this will generally be used to reduce any other council tax or business rate charges you owe. However, if you are in credit overall a refund will be paid. If you paid by direct debit, a refund will be paid directly to your bank account. Alternatively, a refund cheque will be issued. Where the account is in more than one name, you may need to complete a form to advise how you want the credit to be paid. This form will be sent to you.
My earnings are being attached for council tax arrears. How much will be deducted from my wages?
Annex E in the attachment of earnings guide, shows the percentage rate for the deduction. For example, if you are paid monthly and your earnings after tax are £850.00, a deduction rate of 7% will be applied.
