The Harrogate District Action for the Environment Group is our local environmental forum.
It is made up of local environmental groups, businesses, and community and statutory organisations along with individuals with an interest in environmental issues.
The group promotes environmental causes throughout the Harrogate District, and helps to improve the district’s environmental wellbeing.

Harrogate District Biodiversity Action Group
The Action for the Environment Group has close links to the Harrogate District Biodiversity Action Group (HDBAG), which helps to protect local nature and wildlife. HDBAG also runs a Wildlife Friendly Gardens awards scheme. Visit www.biodiversityaction.org.uk
Greening Campaigns
The Action for the Environment Group’s CO2 reduction sub-group is helping to coordinate the Greening Campaigns in Hampsthwaite and Knaresborough.
Past Campaigns
The Action for the Environment Group has supported a number of recent campaigns. It spearheaded the Plastic Bag Free Harrogate campaign, to reduce plastic bag use in Harrogate, and it helped to promote Harrogate Car Free Day.
