Before you start
Before you can start learning to drive you will need to be at least 17 years of age and must hold a current provisional driving licence. Details of how to apply for a provisional licence are available
here.
Once you have a provisional licence you will need to identify a suitable driving school or instructor. Advice and information is available from the
Driving Standards Agency.
Whilst learning to drive
A wide range of resources can be found from your
local library, including books and videos.
A copy of the highway code will be very useful. These are available from most book stores.
Practising for your theory test will also help. Again, books of tests are available, or you could try this

Once you've passed
The
DVLA (Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency) website has details on how to apply for your driving licence and how much it will cost.
The
AA site provides useful information on buying and selling cars as well as driving. If you are getting your own car, you will need to get your car
taxed and
registered and also arrange for appropriate insurance cover.
