Urban Areas Additional Public Consultation - 13 April to 25 May 2012. Please let us know your views on a new site option for housing, sport and open space in Harrogate, a possible relocation site for Ripon Cathedral Choir School, and an extension to the Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal World Heritage Site Buffer Zone.

In March 2012 the Government published the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) which consolidates all previous national planning policy into one document. These policies along with the Harrogate District Local Plan and Core Strategy are being used to manage development across the District. The NPPF sets out a new approach to producing local planning policies. The Council will be updating the planning policy web pages soon.

An updated Strategic Housing Market Assessment (SHMA)(2.4MB) along with the SHMA Appendix (1.1MB) is now available. This provides information on the level of housing need and market demand.
