Translating and interpreting our services
If someone needs to contact the council but they do not understand spoken English, we are able to arrange for a translator or interpreter to help them. Depending on the circumstances, we may be able to provide face-to-face interpreters, interpretation on telephone calls, or translations of forms, letters, notices, or other documentation. This assistance is available in most non-English languages, as well as in British Sign Language and Braille. All the translators and interpreters we use are experienced, qualified, and appropriately assessed.
To request that any of our services be provided in another language or in another way, please contact the service whose leaflet, letter, poster, or information you need translating.
Translating your material
We are also able to put you in contact with a service which can arrange for leaflets, letters, posters, or information which you have produced to be translated into another language. Through this service, we can also provide advice about appropriate culturally-appropriate illustrations, suitable subject matters, and language-specific formatting in both print and electronic media. All the translators we use are experienced, qualified, and appropriately assessed.
