If you buy a council flat or maisonette from us through the right to buy scheme, or from a previous owner, you become a leaseholder.

This means you've bought a leasehold interest in your home and we own the freehold. Your lease is a legal document and sets out the rights and responsibilities of both parties, including your responsibility to repair and maintain the property and pay the service charges.

Leaseholder information

You can find out more about leaseholder rights and responsibilities in our leaseholder handbook.

To find out more on how we operate services for leaseholders, and to meet the staff responsible for providing the services, please contact Tenancy Services on 01423 500600.

Leasehold panel

Leaseholders can have a say in housing matters that affect them, such as service charges and communal areas, by joining the leasehold panel, which meets annually with senior managers. Find out more about how you can become involved.
