Government guidance on construction and building site working time relaxation

We wish to make it easier for people within the building profession to vary start and finish times on site and keep Britain building and help the economic recovery.

We are happy for developers / site operators to extend their construction working hours from 7.30am until 7.30pm Monday to Saturday (excluding Monday 31 August) temporarily until the end of September.

If you wish to extend hours to cover times between 6am and 7.30am and 7.30pm to 9pm, then we are happy for you to do this on the basis that the noise associated with any works does not result in any justified complaint of damage to the local amenity. There should be no heavy plant movements during these extended hours and these hours should only allow trades working on and within plots. There should be no excessive noise, dust or vibration caused during this period.

If we receive complaints during this time, then we reserve the right to take further action and request a more toning down of works on site, and if necessary the submission of a planning application to vary the hours of working condition.

If you wish to extend the working hours on site, then please confirm your arrangements by getting in contact with your case officer, or alternatively contact the duty officer (9am until 1pm Monday to Friday) on 01423 500600 or email [email protected]

If you are seeking a longer term solution, or more significant changes to working hours, then please apply to us to temporarily amend the relevant condition, and / or the construction management plan in the usual way.
