We have adopted a carbon reduction strategy which aims to cut the council’s carbon emissions by at least 2.7% every year. This will keep us in line with national public sector carbon reduction targets.
We will also promote and support activity within the district as a whole to help achieve district wide emissions reductions of 57% by 2030, relative to 1990 levels. This is in line with the UK carbon budget.
To achieve these aims we will keep making improvements to our buildings, our transport fleet and our working practices. Within the wider district we will continue to promote domestic energy efficiency, encourage sustainable transport, influence new developments and work with businesses and public sector partners.
We publish our carbon footprint every year.
