We operate a public area CCTV system covering Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and Boroughbridge, along with council-owned car parks and buildings.

Our Harrogate-based control room operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, overseeing a network of 192 cameras designed to prevent and detect crime, and provide reassurance and building security.

The control room had a £100,000 upgrade in 2012, resulting in a state-of-the-art facility with digital recording and operational capability. Our images are very clear and can identify individuals and number plates very easily.

The police can ask the CCTV service for evidence to support their investigations. They are charged for the evidence we provide.

The CCTV service does not undertake traffic enforcement. If there is a particular car that is causing an obstruction or problem, we will share the information. It will be up to the parking enforcement officer whether any action is taken.

Each year, the service produces an annual report outlining some of the key events and performance information.
