Mini-Medics - first aid and defibrillation for children
This is a very basic introduction to first aid and defibrillation for all children and aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 11, but it can suit children of any age.
First aid is an important life skill and the course is kept at a basic level with no use of confusing terminologies.
At the very least, the child will be able to make an effective emergency telephone call which may be enough to save someone's life.
The course will show complete respect for the child's ability, make it educational and practical, and instil the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.
Three hours dependent on the syllabus you want covered including educational, theoretical and practical teaching sessions.
A range of subjects is covered including:-
- what is first aid?
- first aid kits
- recovery position
- safety, communication and contacting the emergency services
- DR ABC
- resuscitation (CPR)
- wounds and bleeding
This is a non-regulated qualification and attendance is all that is required.
Optional test/quizzes are available in the form of a worksheet if required.
A full colour certificate of attendance is included with the Mini-Medic book as a 'cut-out' for the child.
A maximum of 16 children can be accommodated on this course and all children should be a minimum of 8 years of age ideally.
However, younger children are permitted.
