Did Harrogate's famous waters really have a beneficial effect on the thousands of visitors who flocked to take the cure? Join our Scientist-in-Residence Matt Holmes to view the Sulphur wells, discover his research on how Harrogate's waters and medical treatments have been used over time and his surprising links to today's approach to health and well-being. You can carry out experiments on the different mineral waters and also take a tour to the Magnesia Well in Valley Gardens.

British Science Week workshops for Schools
12 - 16 March 2018
£50 half day, £90 full day (£10 extra for schools outside the Harrogate district)

Book a half day workshop to discover the science behind Harrogate's healing waters. Learn which illnesses might have been cured by spa treatments and how they are treated today, then conduct experiments to discover the properties of different Harrogate waters. Complete your Harrogate spa history visit with an afternoon walk to explore how the healing waters shaped the development of Harrogate as a spa town.
