Letters From My Mother

Monday 4 June 2018
£10 includes cake, tea and coffee
Mercer Art Gallery

'Dear Jane, A quick scribble before I go to school!

I hope the sun is shining through your window this morning, literally and metaphorically. I didn't realise till this a.m. that you hadn't taken the transistor… I know you like a background of mindless music …'

Jane Sellars looks back at the letters her mother wrote to her in the 1970s when she left home for University. She wrote a book about the letters which became a drama serial for BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour in 2004. Hear Jane talk about her family history and how her writing was recreated as drama.
