The museum is 65 this month so we're celebrating all things 1950s. Play old-fashioned board games, dressing up and crafts.

You can also borrow a backpack, explore Ancient Egypt, dress up as a Victorian and enjoy games and activities.
Open Monday until Saturday from 10.30am to 5pm and Sunday from 2pm to 5pm. Admission £4 adults, £2.50 children, £3 concessions, £12 family (5 people, up to 2 adults)

Visit the Castle and grounds this half term to get up close with nature.

Pick up a backpack or trail to explore the creatures, plants and trees found around the Castle site.

Have a go at the craft activities in the museum.

Take home a planting pack start your own growing or a craft box to create bug boxes and art inspired by the natural world (small charge for these take home resources).

Work with artist Jane Carlisle Bellerby to explore what makes a great poster. Generate impact with image, text and composition as you create your own portfolio of protest art, inspired by our exhibition of Brangwyn posters.


Knaresborough Bed Race

Civil War in Knaresborough

A spectacular experience from the days of the English Civil War, as re-enactors from the Sir Thomas Glemham's Regiment of the Sealed Knot Society create a living history village with cameos of 17th century life. Let us transport you back to a time when the sights and sounds of musket and pike drills, cannon and firing guns filled the Knaresborough air.

Join us for spooky happenings at Knaresborough Castle in October half term. Each day you can enjoy crafts and trails, discover our ghostly guests in the castle grounds, and take part Treacherous Trials in our interactive courtroom drama. Your ticket includes the secret underground tunnel, dungeon and museum too!

Monday 29 October until Friday 2 November 2018 - book one of our Pungent Potions workshops and look out for details of our Ghostly Gander walks to discover the ghosts of the Castle and town.

Practical information

Booking

Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by an adult at booked workshops. All children must be accompanied at drop-in and outdoor events.

Advance booking by phone on 01423 556188, email at museums@harrogate.gov.uk or in person at the Mercer Art Gallery, Harrogate.

Payment

All events are priced to cover costs. To confirm your place payment must be made at the time of booking. Tickets will be issued at the time of booking.

Cancellations and refunds

All cancellations must be made 14 days prior to an event to receive a refund. Refunds are only available for sums in excess of £10 due to administrative costs involved. For sums under £10, monies can be held on account against payments for future events.

Please note that all sessions are very popular, often with long reserve lists, so if you cannot attend please notify us straight away so someone else can enjoy the event. If you cancel less than 14 days before an event but we are able to find a replacement the refund policy will apply.

In the event that we have to cancel an event, monies can be held towards future events or a full refund can be provided.
