Riding establishments keep horses for hire or riding instruction.

We suggest you read the riding establishment licences conditions and guidance and visit the British Veterinary Association website before applying for a licence.

Existing licence holders and anyone planning to apply for a licence should also read the Animal Welfare (licensing of activities involving animals) Regulations 2018.

We will arrange, at your cost, for a vet to inspect the horses and premises to ensure the welfare of the animals and to check that the accommodation is suitable. If successful, you should receive the licence within 60 days.
