Entertainment commonly connected with sexual entertainment venues includes:
- lap dancing
- pole dancing
- table dancing
- strip shows
- peep shows
- live sex shows
Licence applications won't usually be seen as appropriate if the premises are near:
- historic buildings or tourist attractions
- schools, play areas, nurseries, children's centres or similar premises
- shopping complexes
- residential areas
- places of worship
There's an exemption for premises which provide such entertainment less than once a month.

When applying for a licence, you must publish a Newspaper Advertisement Notice and display a Site Advertisement Notice
You must send a copy of your application to the police within seven days of submitting the application to the licensing team. Write to North Yorkshire Police, Harrogate area Licensing Officer, Harrogate Police Station, Beckwith Head Road, Harrogate HG3 1FR.
Most sexual entertainment venues will require a premises licence or club premises certificate, as well as a sex establishment licence, to sell alcohol, provide regulated entertainment, and provide late-night refreshment.

This means that you'll be able to act as though your application is granted if you haven't heard from us by the end of the 28-day target period. Tacit consent will only apply once a full application has been submitted and you've received an acknowledgement.
