Are you a new or existing business in one of our key sectors and looking to expand in the Harrogate district? Please contact us at [email protected] for information on how we can support you.

Our Economic Growth Strategy (2017-2035) identifies a co-ordinated approach to prioritise and support 'good growth' in the Harrogate district. We are working to achieve a sustainable and resilient economy by 2035 with new higher value jobs, an increase in Gross Value Added (GVA) and a boost in average workplace wages to at least the regional average.

Our focus is on four key sectors in which the district has pronounced strengths and forecast high growth prospects.

  • creative and digital - a significant sector in the growth of the Harrogate district economy, with computing and information services seeing a 14% increase between 2012-2018
Harrogate Digital: a networking, information and events group for businesses in the digital, creative and technology sectors in the wider Harrogate area
Digital Enterprise: support to invest in digital technology
Digital Investment Fund #Grow: if you're a digital business based in the Harrogate district you could qualify for grant funding of £10,000 to £50,000
  • logistics - home to Europe's largest cold storage facility, Harrogate district's central location in the United Kingdom, with north-south links via the A1(M) and east-west connections to ports, has seen the continued expansion of locally based companies
  • financial and professional services - home to highly acclaimed companies, businesses with international operations and leaders of innovation in Fintech. A data centre in the Harrogate district switches 3.5 billion card-initiated transactions per year, processing in excess of up to £430 million daily
  • scientific research and development - one third of medicines on the market today were developed by a world leading Contract Research Organisation based in Harrogate

Whilst our support is not limited to these four key sectors, they are the current focus of our economic growth resources.
