The government has announced additional help for some small businesses affected by the coronavirus.
It is for firms with ongoing fixed property-related cost and less than 50 employees that can demonstrate a significant loss of income as a result of the pandemic. Businesses that have already received financial support from government will not be eligible for this additional help.
We are currently unable to respond to enquiries about this grant but hope to have an online application process up and running by mid-June.
You may be eligible for a grant if you are responsible for business rates at a property and your business has been affected by the coronavirus (Covid-19).
There are two types of grant available for businesses:
- small business grant funding of £10,000 for businesses receiving (or eligible to receive) small business rate relief or rural rate relief
- retail, leisure and hospitality grant funding of up to £25,000 for businesses receiving (or eligible to receive) retail relief
The criteria for these grants means that businesses can only qualify for one not both.
Ideally, you will already be receiving small business rate relief, rural rate relief or retail rate relief before you complete this form. If not, this form will also direct you to the relevant application form to apply for these reductions.
Applications must be made by the occupiers of the property. We cannot accept applications from landlords and/or managing agents.
Please complete our business information form (link below) to check your eligibility and ensure that we have your up-to-date contact details and bank account information. This will help speed up the process of grants being paid.
The form will take approximately five minutes to complete. You will need to provide your property details, business rates account reference number (if you are already registered) and bank details for payment. Your business rates account reference number can be found on your bill.
State aid limits apply to these grants so you will also need to provide a state aid declaration as part of this application.
You will receive an acknowledgement after your form is submitted, together with a reference number. We will then contact you again with our decision or if any further details are required. We have allocated additional staff resources to this work to ensure that payment are made as quickly as possible. Please note that grant payments are currently taking between seven and ten days to process/pay.

Councils are at different stages of implementing their coronavirus (Covid-19) grant application process. If you run a business which isn't based in the Harrogate district, please refer to the local council in that area for the latest information. Please be reassured that all councils are working hard to get application processes live as soon as they can.
If we've already processed and paid your grant, and you didn't complete our business information form above, please confirm the payment so we can update our records. Thank you.
