The Road World cycling championships ended on Sunday 29 September with a thrilling men's elite race finishing in Harrogate.

Thousands of people braved appalling weather to line the route, even in the remotest parts of the district, to watch the competitors zoom past.

Over the last nine days, we have welcomed the entire world to the district with visitors travelling from far and wide to take part in, and watch, the event.

And, we've had global TV coverage with Masham, Pateley Bridge, Ripon Knaresborough and Harrogate all featured in broadcasts in the UK and abroad.

We'd like to thank you for your patience while we hosted the championships.

Now that the racing has finished, work is underway to dismantle the event infrastructure and pack away the fan zone.

While the vast majority of road closures and parking restrictions have been lifted, roads in the centre of Harrogate remain closed until Friday 4 October while work takes place.
