Following a recent public consultation, Ripon Leisure Centre is pleased to continue its children's care scheme, Harry's Place Childcare, with improvements and new opening hours.

The majority of respondents were in favour of maintaining the provision and the decision has been made to carry on the offer of care for children aged between 12 weeks and five years-of-age at the Ripon facility on Dallamires Lane.

Improvements include inviting parents or carers to leave their child to stay in the safe environment without having to remain on site; parents or carers do not need to take part in an activity at Ripon Leisure Centre; opening times have changed to capture more users attending classes in the gym and Ripon Spa Baths (details below).

The two-hour sessions cost £6.30 and are ideal for parents and carers who need to attend personal appointments or have time to shop or catch up with friends on weekday mornings.

Children are well looked after by our fully-qualified team of child practitioners: Jan Fillipi (supervisor), Vikki Bowman and Helen Bryan.

The sessions are contract-free and will start on 3 September 2018. Pre-booking is advisable as there are limited places available.

Councillor Stanley Lumley, cabinet member with responsibility for culture, tourism and sport, said:

"I am delighted that the decision has been made to expand the scope of Harry's Place Childcare at Ripon Leisure Centre as we gauge people's desire to support our provision.

This facility will not only allow our members to enjoy the gym or classes knowing their little ones are in safe hands, but we also encourage residents to book sessions for their child so they can attend personal appointments- like going to the dentist or doctors- or shop in the centre without having to remain on site.

We are committed to ensuring that our customers get the most out of our leisure and sport facilities and these sessions, manned by our dedicated team of child practitioners, are perfect for putting parents and carers' minds at rest as they enjoy our amenities."
