Harrogate Borough Council has received the stamp of approval from the Keep Me Posted campaign for the way in which they keep in touch with residents.

The council has joined other local authorities, utilities and financial service companies, in showing their support for the campaign that aims to give all consumers the choice in how they receive their bills and statements, and ensuring that no one faces a financial penalty as a result.

Councillor Richard Cooper, leader of Harrogate Borough Council, said: "We are supporting the Keep Me Posted initiative as we know it's important to residents that they have a choice about how they receive information from us. In recent years many people find it is easier to receive information electronically, which in turn can save money for organisations, but we appreciate some residents still wish to receive hard copies by post and we respect their right to make that choice.

"First-class customer service is one of our key objectives and this campaign is another step in reaching this important goal."

Judith Donovan CBE, chairman of Keep Me Posted, said: "We are honoured to welcome Harrogate Borough Council to the family of supporters who provide their residents and customers with a choice in how they are communicated with."
