The Union Flag at the civic centre is being flown at half-mast as a mark of respect.

"It is with great sadness we hear of the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.

"His Royal Highness had a distinguished career in the Royal Navy and subsequently led a prominent role in many community initiatives.

"Among a lifelong record of service, we particularly celebrate the Duke of Edinburgh's Award that helped young people gain essential skills and experience to successfully navigate adult life.

"We offer our deepest condolences and sympathy to Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family during this time."
