We appreciate that the time following a death is very difficult. If you are considering a burial there are important decisions about the cemetery and grave to be made and we aim to offer a flexible approach to help you make those decisions, taking into account as many of your wishes as possible.

You can also visit the cemetery before the funeral, giving you the chance to consider options such as the content of the service.
Bereavement Services operates 11 open cemeteries and a crematorium at Stonefall, Harrogate. We are also responsible for 14 closed churchyards.

Floral Fund
Many visitors to our Crematorium and Cemeteries within the district, express a desire to make a contribution towards enhancing our Memorial Gardens individually or on the behalf of a loved one.
Harrogate Borough Council appreciates and welcomes this interest and as a result has set up a Floral Fund where donations can be made and used to improve the grounds for all that visit our Cemeteries and maintain their beauty.
Should you wish to make a donation to help in these endeavours, we would welcome any donations through our Stonefall Cemetery Office.
Each of the cemeteries in our care is open for burial, but new grave spaces are very limited in Grove Road and Harlow Hill.
A grave is allocated for each burial as needed or can be pre-purchased. We pride ourselves on taking your wishes into account wherever possible when allocating plots. The grave we provide for full burials is called a lawn grave, which is for one, two, and occasionally three, internments.
There are designated areas in some cemeteries for cremated remains and graves for babies and children.
After buying a grave, you will be given a copy of the guidance notes which tell you about our cemetery practices and regulations.
