Waivers and suspensions

Waivers

You can apply in person at the Civic Centre, St Lukes Avenue, Harrogate HG1 2AE between 8.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, or by phoning 01423 500600.

Waivers should be clearly displayed on the vehicle. Failure to to do this could result in a penalty charge notice. Our civil enforcement officers will check whether or not it's necessary for that vehicle to be in that location. If it's obstructing traffic or pedestrians, or it's not necessary for the vehicle to be there, the driver will be asked to move it. We don't have to offer any alternative parking place and the waiver will be invalid.

A waiver does not give the driver the right to park on yellow lines, in taxi ranks, disabled people's parking bays, bus stop clearways, loading-only bays, police bays or school keep clear markings, unless specifically authorised.

Charges

Charge per waiver issued for one day - £20
Charge for subsequent days up to and including seven days (per day) - £5
Total waiver charge for one week - £50
Charge for consecutive seven days thereafter - £35

Suspensions

Suspensions can be put in place after a request from someone who intends to carry out work in the road or on premises next to the road. It could mean that they need to reserve a particular parking space, or spaces, for their exclusive use, and for a parking bay to be coned off to restrict parking by other motorists.

Suspensions may be applied for by post at Harrogate Borough Council, PO Box 787, Harrogate, HG1 2RW or by phone 01423 556693.

Charges

Per bay for one week - £160
