We are a Fairtrade council and Harrogate is a Fairtrade borough.

This means that we have declared our support for the principles of fairtrade, which guarantees a fair deal for developing world producers.

Fairtrade products are usually ones which are grown or made in some of the poorest parts of the world. They include tea, coffee, chocolate, bananas, sugar, wine, cotton and even footballs.

The Harrogate Fairtrade Campaign is led by Harrogate District Fairtrade Group, which was set up to promote fairtrade across the district. The website suggests ways you can get involved, including buying products and running events.

There is a lot more information about fairtrade on the Fairtrade Foundation website.
