Applications for planning permission are determined in-line with the statutory development plan unless material considerations indicate otherwise.
The development plan for the Harrogate district comprises the following:
- the Harrogate district Local Plan 2014-2035 (adopted March 2020)
- made neighbourhood plans
- minerals and waste plans, which are the responsibility of North Yorkshire County Council
A neighbourhood plan is made following the formal consultation process, examination and approval at a referendum. The following neighbourhood plans have been made:
- our Otley Neighbourhood Plan 2018-2028 (made March 2020)
- Ripon Neighbourhood Plan to 2030 (made April 2019)
- Roecliffe and Westwick Neighbourhood Plan 2019-2032 (made May 2022)
